At a Minneapolis grain silo, a new approach to capture waste heat | Midwest Energy News

This month a transparent tube topped by a turbine will be installed along the side of a Minneapolis grain silo in an effort to create electricity from wasted heat.

The 7.5-foot diameter tube – called the Energy Column – captures ground level air that rises to power a 3 kilowatt (kW) turbine.
